Elle's Studio Challenges

Happy Saturday!  I've been busy in my scrap room inspired by Elle's Studio's Thursday Sketch Challenge and their Wednesday Challenge.

This is the sketch:

This is my take on the sketch:

I had some fun with it and used my Silhouette to make the hexagon background, spritzed the Elle's Studio patterned paper with Heidi Swapp's Color Shine, and embossed the die cut with polka dots using Zing! Opaque by American Crafts.  The little stars and "love" paperclip are from Freckled Fawn Oh Deer Me Kit and the alphas are by Studio Calico and Doodlebug (both have been in my stash so long, I can't provide a link to buy).

I just love the variety of tags from Elle's Studio and this sketch provided the perfect opportunity to break them out and use them up!  Here's a few peeks at the details:

I also did a layout for the Wednesday Challenge.  The challenge was to scrapbook a LARGE photo.  That was the only requirement :-)  So here's my large photo layout:

I believe the die cut files are a new addition to the Elle's Studio On Line Shop - I picked those up right away.  Love them!!  The I "heart" Our Family is from the October Die Cut Files.  The patterned paper is from Elle's Studio Saltwater collection - just love the colours and the versatility of the line.  I added minimal embellishments; the wood veneer cameras and hearts are from Scraptastic and the Geotag Paperclip is from Freckled Fawn's Oh Deer Me Kit.

That was a productive Saturday for me!  Thanks for dropping by!!

Project Life 2013

So I have not yet posted my Project Life layouts, but Becky Higgin's latest call for the Project Life Creative Team has motivated me to post my work.  It would be SO amazing to be on her team ( I can dream can't I?) but mostly the call has created a great reason to share what I'm doing with Project Life.

I've been doing Project Life since it began as Project 365.  I completed one year using the digital version but have gone back to paper because I really favour the tactile aspect of scrapbooking.  I do like the digital approach because it's easy and enables the possibility of ordering multiple copies.  I love the idea of printing one for each of my three children, but since I'm not doing digital - I guess they'll have to fight for them :-)

I've been scrapbooking for 17 years and I do Project Life because I feel that the everyday pictures tell a complete and accurate picture of our life (in addition to the big events and holidays that traditionally get recorded).  I can start and finish it and feel GREAT when it's completed.  I continue to recommend Project Life to friends that are new to scrapbooking because it's a do-able way to scrapbook - budget and time-wise.

So here are the first four weeks of my 2013 album.  I'll continue to post the remainder as I take pictures of the pages.  Hope you enjoy a peek into our everyday!

 Week 4

As you can see, I keep the pages fairly simple.  I've mostly kept to the original concept of Project Life because that guarantees I stay caught up.  I do get creative with it to participate in challenges from time to time, but the majority of the pages are simple.  I still do traditional scrapbooking but I just love the everyday moments recorded in my Project Life albums.

Memory Workshop October Kit

I picked up my Memory Workshop October kit when I attended BC Crop for Kids last weekend and I LOVE it!  I started creating with it right away and the only item I used from my stash was gold Stickles.  I didn't have a lot of time, so clearing off my desk and just using the kit made the process so much faster.  I also used photos that I had on hand; I didn't waste any time searching for the "perfect" photos.  I have tons more product to to use, so this is just the start!  I just love the colours in this kit and the cardstock included matches perfectly with the patterned paper and embellishments.

Thanks for stopping by!

BC Crop for Kids Layouts

I spent the past weekend with friends at a crop to raise funds for the BC Children's Hospital.  It was a great crop - tons of fun and lots to do (classes, shopping, spa treatments) and I was quite productive - so I'm happy to share the pages I finished.

Elle Price attended and hosted a Make & Take table.  This layout was the Make & Take.  It took less than 5 minutes!!  I've never completed a layout in 5 minutes!! I only added the Basic Grey stars and the "super duper cute" stamp from Elle's Studio.

There was a twins/triplets contest on Saturday night and we dressed like our favourite super hero Glitter Girl.  We won the triplets category and had a huge laugh - and we were quite excited to share the news with Glitter Girl who said "This is AMAZING!"  That was the icing on the cake.

The next BC Crop for Kids is already scheduled for the last weekend of September 2014.  If you're looking to attend a well run, fabulous crop, take some classes, shop and support a great cause, I highly recommend registering for this crop.  I know I'll be going next year :-)

I took a great class with Kristine Ponte from Close to My Heart.  Wow - so many layouts and the class kits were full of die-cuts and pre-stamped items.  Four layouts and a card for only $25 - super great value and a fun class.  I believe all the instructors donated their time, so a big shout out to the class instructors for giving their time & talent.  I'll post those layouts as soon as I finish adding photos.
